Working in partnership with 30 local authorities to operate leisure centres from Barry to Bexley and Leeds to Penzance, from golf courses to theatres, events venues to leisure centres of all shapes and sizes, Parkwood Leisure has developed a wealth of experience in managing a variety of leisure facilities. We work with the local authority to understand their needs and requirements, whilst highlighting the heritage and locality of the sites that we operate.
The London Borough of Bexley Council
Working in partnership with The London Borough of Bexley Council, Parkwood Leisure operates three large centres which offer an impressive range of facilities to the local community. The contract has a significant number of children enrolled in Sway Dance classes and is a fantastic example of an area which actively encourages children to get active.

Parkwood Leisure work in partnership with Bristol City Council to manage Hengrove Park Leisure Centre. Hengrove Park is home to a 50 metre swimming pool, a 180 station gym, exercise studios, health suite and climbing wall.

Broughton Astley Parish Council
Parkwood Leisure works in partnership with the Broughton Astley Parish Council to manage the brand new leisure centre due to open in early 2020. The new facility will include a four-court sports hall, floodlit outdoor 3G pitch and a health club with a 65-station gym and two group exercise studios to encourage the local community to stay active. There will also be a café and an outdoor play area.
Cardiff City Council
Cardiff International Pool is an impressive family focussed facility with a fun pool, 50 metre competition swimming pool, gym, exercise studio and health suite located on the Cardiff Bay. The centre is home to many high profile competitions and was the training centre for the Brazilian Olympic Swimming team in the run up to London 2012.

High Peak Borough Council
Parkwood Leisure is working in partnership with High Peak Borough Council to take over the management of leisure services in High Peak, whilst also taking over management and operations of Buxton Pavilion Gardens. Parkwood will also manage four of the council’s football pitches, which the authority said could open up the potential of these sites to host a range of community activities.

In 2013, Parkwood Theatres began working with Maidstone Borough Council to operate the exciting local theatre; The Hazlitt. The venue sees many exciting shows and local performances.

Parkwood Leisure is a strategic partner of ukactive the not-for-profit industry association, promoting the interests of commercial fitness gyms and community leisure centres. Parkwood Leisure is fully supportive of ukactive’s vision to get more people, more active, more often and to improve the nation’s health by promoting active lifestyles.
Swim England
Swim England was the first Governing Body of swimming to be established in the world, and today it remains the English National Governing Body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming. Swim England aims to ensure everyone has an opportunity to learn to swim and support the pursuit of excellence in swimming.
Parkwood Leisure is an official partner of Swim England and is committed to following the National Plan for Teaching Swimming at all of its centres by offering our swimming programme in line with the Swim England national swimming plan.
Institute of Swimming (IoS)
The Institute of Swimming is the largest trainer of swimming teachers and coaches in England, with services expanding to education, training provision, and fitness leisure operations.
The IoS are at the cutting edge of teacher and coach education, running the latest UKCC course as well as providing continuing professional development opportunities. They deliver hundreds of courses across the country, courses that are of the same high standards they hold for themselves.
Royal Life Saving Society
RLSS is the UK governing body for Lifesaving and Lifeguarding. Parkwood Leisure provides training for the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification under the credence of the RLSS, and has qualified trainer assessors amongst the senior management of our water-based sites.
England Squash and Racketball
England Squash and Racketball (ESR) is the governing body for squash and racketball in England. ESR offers a comprehensive range of services at national, regional and local levels of support, including structured development programmes, events and competitions for all ages and abilities as well as education programmes.
ESR and Parkwood Leisure are committed to increasing participation in squash and racketball and provide a partnership opportunity for children and adults to fulfil their sporting potential and contribute to the improved health of local communities.
Badminton England
Badminton England is responsible for the management and training of the elite England squad, and works alongside the other home nation governing bodies to prepare British players for the Olympics.
Badminton England also coordinates a development network; this provides a pathway for aspiring players to progress from schools and clubs to the national squad.
Parkwood Leisure is committed to working with Badminton England to support and improve our provision of Badminton to the public by delivering quality coaching at our facilities and provide a developmental pathway from grass root level through to elite performance.
British Triathlon
British Triathlon is the National Governing Body for Triathlon, Paratriathlon, Duathlon and Aquathlon in Great Britain, responsible for raising the profile and delivering the elite performance of the sport. Triathlon is a fast-growing, dynamic and modern Olympic sport with talented world-class athletes, coaches and support staff, focused around delivering world-class events and medal-winning performances.
Anthony Nolan
Parkwood Leisure has committed to raising substantial funds for our nominated charity, Anthony Nolan.
Anthony Nolan works to save the lives of people with blood cancers like leukaemia, who need a stem cell or bone marrow transplant to survive. Every twenty minutes someone in the UK will be diagnosed with a blood cancer or blood disorder. But thanks to Anthony Nolan, three people a day are given the chance of life.
The 5% Club
Parkwood Leisure is a proud member of The 5% Club, a campaign focused on creating momentum behind the recruitment of apprentices and graduates into the UK workforce. By joining the Club, we have committed to ensuring that within the next five years, 5% of our UK workforce are apprentices, on graduate programmes or are sponsored students.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)
For almost 100 years, RoSPA has been quietly working behind the scenes to change both legislation and attitudes surrounding accidents. From the compulsory wearing of seatbelts and the campaign to stop drink driving, to the Cycling Proficiency Test and to the more recent ban on handheld mobile phones behind the wheel, RoSPA has been instrumental in shaping our society for the better, preventing millions of deaths and serious injuries along the way.
