AFFORDABLE ACTIVITIES AND ALL-IN-ONE SUMMER ESCAPES IN STORE FOR RUFFORD ABBEY VISITORS THIS SUMMER
28th July, 2023 – Parkwood Leisure’s Rufford Abbey in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, is hosting a range of affordable activities for families and visitors of all ages to getaway this summer. Guests also have the opportunity to extend their stay at the on-site Coach House Apartment for a summer holiday in the countryside.
The site, which attracted over 400,000 visitors last year, and was awarded the Customer Focus Initiative Award at the Mansfield & Ashfield Business Awards and a Quality Food and Drink accolade from Visit England, has remained a popular family destination over this year’s school holidays.
With summer holidays abroad proving to be especially expensive this year, as the cost of living crisis tightens on the tourist sector, Rufford Abbey plays host as an affordable, family friendly, domestic getaway.
This summer, from 22nd July to 3rd September, guests can join the Superhero Trail for just £2.50 per person. Rufford has been inundated with super villains, and needs your help to defeat them! Visitors can pick up a trail sheet from the Gift Shop and work their way around the park defeating bad guys as they go, receiving a prize at the end.
Professor Paul Temple is bringing the usual antics of Punch and Judy to the Abbey. Visitors can enjoy the traditional show, which involves plenty of audience participation and a modern twist, for free every Tuesday in August, with showings starting at 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm.
White Post Farm returns to Rufford Abbey every Wednesday throughout August, bringing a variety of animals, including some fluffy (and not-so-fluffy) friends as well as baby goats for visitors to meet. Guests are invited to join the fun for just £2.50 per person.
Every Thursday in August, visitors will have the opportunity to meet their favourite superheroes and princesses in Superheroes vs Princess Day, including beloved characters like Spidey, Wonder Woman, Elsa and Anna. The heroes will be hosting a superhero school, while princesses will be leading a singalong show.
Visitors can extend their visit to Rufford Abbey at the Coach House Apartment. Situated in the heart of the Abbey grounds, the two-bedroom apartment is in the prime location to explore the Abbey, the surrounding countryside and the town of Rufford, with Clumber Park, Sherwood Pines, Newark, Lincoln and Nottingham all a short drive away. Facilities include a kitchen/dining room, shower room, lounge and two double bedrooms.
Commenting on the summer activities, Kirsty Edwards, Contract Manager at Rufford Abbey, said:
“We’re delighted with the response and feedback we’ve had to all our activities this year, and we’re so excited to welcome families and visitors of all ages back to enjoy our range of affordable activities over the summer.
“The Abbey is picturesque and set in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside, the ideal location for a summer holiday. Guests can stay in the Coach House Apartment, situated right above the café in the heart of the Abbey grounds, with a range of walking and cycling trails straight from the door. We can’t wait to enjoy the summer with our guests!”
