Parkwood Leisure works with a number of National Governing Bodies, in order to deliver the highest standards of service delivery to customers and clients. Some of these are listed below.

Sport England

Sport England is the government agency responsible for building the foundations of sporting success, by creating a world-leading community sport environment of clubs, coaches, facilities and volunteers. The organisation invests National Lottery and Exchequer funding in organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sports.

Parkwood Leisure works in partnership with UK Sport which has responsibility for elite success, and the Youth Sport Trust which is focused on Physical Education and school sport. We support Sport England’s outcomes of Grow, Sustain and Excel through our own brand values of Quality, Care and Excellence and work closely with Sport England to provide a continually developed provision of sporting opportunities within the centres that we operate.

Parkwood Leisure has successfully secured funding for the provision of community based sports activities and provides a consistent standard of service provision by staying up to date with the wealth of expertise and advice available at Sport England on a range of sports subjects including planning, facilities, coaching, volunteering and sports development.

Amateur Swimming Association (ASA)

The Amateur Swimming Association was the first Governing Body of swimming to be established in the world, and today it remains the English National Governing Body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming. The ASA aims to ensure everyone has an opportunity to learn to swim and support the pursuit of excellence in swimming.

Parkwood Leisure is an official partner of the ASA and is committed to following the National Plan for Teaching Swimming at all of its centres by offering the Aquazone swimming programme in line with the ASA national swimming plan.

Parkwood Leisure supports the ASA by participating in national events such as the Big Splash, which raises awareness of the positive social and physical effect of swimming and encourages the UK to participate in the activity.

Parkwood Leisure also has a dedicated Aquazone co-ordinator, working with core centres to drive attendances and reduce waiting lists.

Institute of Swimming (IoS)

The Institute of Swimming is the largest trainer of swimming teachers and coaches in England, with services expanding to education, training provision, and fitness leisure operations.

The IoS are at the cutting edge of teacher and coach education, running the latest UKCC course as well as providing continuing professional development opportunities. They deliver hundreds of courses across the country, courses that are of the same high standards they hold for themselves.

The IoS and Parkwood Leisure began working together to offer a fantastic opportunity for young people wishing to peruse a career in the leisure sector.

“The IoS will be working hand in hand with Parkwood Leisure to develop a fully integrated training academy that will provide a career pathway supported by quality training at all levels of the leisure industry. We feel that the academy concept will revolutionise the way training is identified, delivered and assessed.”
- Spencer Moore, Head of Workforce Development, IoS

England Squash and Racketball (ESR) is the governing body for squash and racketball in England. As a specific example, the facilities that we operate in the Staffordshire Moorlands area currently have a development programme running with the ESR which includes free coaching, equipment, the organisation of competitive leagues and discounted court prices for squash and racketball. This has been hugely successful since beginning in January 2011 and will continue be rolled out to other sites with the support of the ESR.

Parkwood Leisure is committed to working with Badminton England to support and improve our provision of Badminton to the public by delivering quality coaching at our facilities and provide a developmental pathway from grass root level through to elite performance.

We currently deliver No Strings Badminton in over 30 of our centres as part of the partnership; whereby all ages and abilities are invited to play weekly sessions of badminton with no membership commitment or equivalent. Battle Badminton is also offered, whereby participants are entered into a league with other like-minded players.
