Who we are

Parkwood Leisure is one of the UK's leading operators of publicly owned leisure centres, bringing world-class service and provision to each of the facilities we manage. As a company, we believe firmly in working in partnership with our local communities, delivering the very best service by empowering our 4,500 staff members to take the initiative and make every customer visit to our centres feel special.

Why Choose Us?

As one of the UK’s largest Leisure operators there is a fantastic range of opportunities for our staff to take advantage of, which makes a career at Parkwood highly rewarding. From leading community fitness classes to coaching and developing sports teams to vital health and safety roles, such as lifeguarding, there really is something for everyone here at Parkwood.

We take the time to invest in each and every one of our staff members, helping you to develop and grow the skills that you need to succeed in your role. Through a combination of in-house training, distance learning and even accredited qualifications, we will ensure you are fully prepared to carry out your duties.

Values & Culture

Our company culture is driven by three core principles; quality, care and excellence, and you will find examples of each of these throughout our business. We are passionate about providing the very best service to the communities we operate in, working in partnership with residents, members and facility users to ensure that local needs are being fulfilled to the highest standards.

As a Parkwood employee, you will have the chance to help local residents get the most out of their leisure facilities, sharing the joy that exercise, health and fitness can bring to people. We believe this is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work, and whether it’s teaching a child to swim for the first time, helping an older person to increase their mobility or simply keeping the lights on to allow all of this to happen, you too can experience this here.

Talent Development

At Parkwood, we don’t see training as a simple duty, to be fulfilled quickly and then forgotten. Instead, we treat training and talent development as an opportunity to grow our staff and our business together for the benefit of everyone. By working with our employees to recognise their strengths and skills we can discuss where there might be any gaps and then develop them accordingly.

Through the Parkwood Academy, each employee (and their manager) has access to established progression pathways to provide guidance on career development. This means that wherever you are in the business and no matter your role or experience, you can see what you need to achieve and how you can progress to a more senior position. All staff, from Apprentices to those on our Graduate and Fast-Track Manager schemes and everyone in between, have access to these opportunities. See some of our case studies below for some recent examples.

Charity and community values

In addition to our community work within centres, we are always looking to help out and give back through other means. Last year we raised funds for our charity partners through a wide range of activities, including a ‘swim the channel’ event in our pools and a 24 hour squash marathon. We play an active role in a wide range of local charitable campaigns and encourage our staff to be creative in the ways that they can get involved and support worthy causes.

Diversity is something we actively strive for at Parkwood. We take every effort to ensure that our staff are fully representative of the communities they serve and recognise the positive effect this can have on helping us to attract hard to reach groups to our centres. Beyond this, however, we understand the value in employing people from different backgrounds, who can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to our organisation.
