With years of experience in the leisure industry and a range of unique skills and qualifications, our Board of Directors are one of the many reasons that Parkwood Leisure is trusted to run over eighty leisure centres on behalf of local authorities.

Giles Rawlinson - Commercial and Finance Director

Giles Rawlinson

Giles has been a part of the Parkwood Leisure senior management team for 13 years and since July 2015 has been acting Managing Director for the Leisure Division.

He obtained a double degree in Engineering and Business Studies and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant with Ernst and Young. Giles has forged a successful finance team that has developed in line with the rapid growth of the Company, He also takes an active involvement in Business Development, Risk and Process Improvement.

Giles lives in Worcestershire with his wife and two children and is very keen on sports; he has a passion for sailing, in particular dingy racing. He also regularly uses the gym and swims to keep fit and healthy. 

Joanne Martin - Sales and Marketing Director

Joanne offers a diverse breadth of knowledge in the leisure industry, having worked as the Sports Development manager for the University of Wales, Cardiff and later as the Special Events Manager for the luxurious and high profile Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales. After delivering a number of prestigious sports and entertainment events for the Celtic Manor Resort, Joanne joined Parkwood Leisure in 2009 as Assistant Regional Director for the South West.

Now responsible for both the Business Development team and the Sales and Marketing Department, Joanne is able to draw on her experience and understanding of the business operation while utilising over ten years’ success in sports development, events management, sponsorship generation, sales and marketing.

Joanne holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the Sussex University, is NEBOSH qualified to Distinction level, holds a PRINCE2 Project Management Certificate and is a certified National Pool Plant Operator. Joanne is an active member of Worcester Rowing Club, attends regular boot camps and participates in Cancer Research UK runs.

Glen Hall - Operations Director

Glen Hall holds a range of range of qualifications, including a BA (Hons) in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of Birmingham and is NEBOSH qualified.

Glen has over 20 years of experience working within the Leisure Industry, joining Parkwood Leisure in 1997 as Contract Manager in Staffordshire Moorlands. He has been a Company Director since 2006.

Having worked in the private and public sector, his career has enabled him to gain a wealth of experience in the full range of leisure operations. Glen is particularly skilled in driving commercial turnaround projects; large capital schemes, including complex Public Private Partnerships and best practice initiatives which deliver improved operational performance.

Glen has been integral over the years in developing our partnerships with Health & Safety Consultants, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA); National Governing Bodies and Energy management partners. He was integral in developing our internal Quality Management System - The Oracle, largely recognised as an example of industry best practice.

Peter Fitzboydon - Managing Director

Peter Fitzboydon

Peter joined Parkwood Leisure as Managing Director in 2017 following a 20 year career within the sport and leisure sector, since graduating from Loughborough University with a BSc and MSc in Sports Science.

Peter started his career with The FA and latterly spent ten years at the Football Foundation: the UK’s largest sport charity who invest around £50m per year in developing football facilities for grassroots players. He then moved to London Sport as their first Chief Executive in 2014, where he successfully implemented a strategy to make London the most physically active city in the world, following the ‘afterglow’ of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Peter has developed a reputation as a thought leader in utilising technology and data to increase physical activity levels. He has spoken at many events around the world on the subject, including at Rio during the 2016 Olympic Games. He set up the UK’s first business incubator for sport and fitness technology start-up companies, having also run a startup software company for five years, growing it to a seven-figure valuation.

With a specialism in business performance management and improvement, Peter is passionate about harnessing the potential of innovation to improve customer service, as well as overall business efficiency and effectiveness.
